Jana, I also like using Khan Academy. The only problem that I have is that our filter blocks all you-tube linked videos. Just so you know www.bightstorm.com has a lot of math and science videos. This site is not blocked with our filter.
Jana, I have been assigned to evaluate your blog and offer suggestions. I'm going to pretty much go through the Rubric Headings and give you some feedback.
Ideas and Content- I believe that you get all 20 points for this category. You blog shows plenty of evidence of what you are doing in your classroom as it relates to math. Your slideshow shows that in itself.
Connection to Content- The content is definitely related to your course content. Again, you would receive the entire 20 points.
Vodcast- You did create a vodcast, and it did meet all of the stipulations of the rubric. I would give you 20 points. I liked your Vodcast.
Slideshow- I liked how you utilized this assignment to provide students with a map of the remainder of the year. I would enjoy having this as a resource if I were a student. Again, another 20 points would be assigned.
Enhancements- You definitely had this part of the Rubric covered. I realized by looking at your that I had not met this requirement in my blog and when I'm finished commenting on your blog I will be sure to fix mine. I would give you another 20 points.
Frequency of postings-You did post at least 4 postings so you would receive another 20 points.
Writing Quality- I'm not an English teacher, but I didn't find any mistakes in your blogs or the postings. I would again assign 20 point for this section.
Jana, I didn't find any holes within your blog that would keep you from getting an A on this project. The only area that I may have missed is possible spelling and grammar mistakes. This would not change your grade, because I know that I didn't miss many if any. Great job on your blog. You may could add some type of brain teaser or critical thinking post that could engage your students at a deeper level.
